Guess who's turning 50 this year?

Many baby boomer celebrities will cross the big Fifty Year line this year. It's funny in a way because in our area we now call homes built in the 1950's "Mid-Century". Yes, I passed the mark several years back myself but never really thought of myself as "older". Like they say it's all in your head. After seeing a list posted in the newspaper, I feel a sort of vindication because most of these folks are still rocking along (and not in rocking chairs).

I guess this attitude runs in my family because years ago, when my Father turned 70, I asked him how it felt. He replied "Now I know what it's like to be middle aged"! Words I am living by myself today!

Russell - That is quite a list.  I knew about the first three, but many of the others were surprising to me, including Belinda Carlisle and Ellen Degeneres.

You can ad me to the list of cinco decaders.  I am 2 and a half months from the most eventful half a century in history!

I'm sorry, but I think at least a couple of these people have ALREADY passed this birthday milestone even if they didn't acknowledge it to the world. I just know that through the years the ones that I have watched have seemed to skip a year or two along the way!

Hi Jason - Well so much for my atatement about "serious" quality posts but I still like to have fun. I was also surprised at the number of folks on this list and of course the remaining Beatles are MUCH older!

Heath - I passed the mark a few years ago but you could never tell by the way I act. I am having too much fun to be too serious and it looks like we are all in "interesting company!

Terri - You are probably right, people in the limelight seem to want to hold on to the younger years a little longer!

Russell, I fit in that age group but only knew about 1/2 of them.  You are only as young as you feel.  My Dad is 91 years young and is still going strong.  He still drives him and my Mom to Arizona from Colorado to spend 6 months.

Marchel I always enjoy hearing stories about folks your parents age who are still going strong and who also live life to tehe fullest! You should thank them for such great genes!

Russell,

Say it aint so!  So many of my icons are turning 50....wow.  I remember when I thought my mother was old at 30.....now that I am almost 44 , 30 seems young and 50 is not that old :)

Have a great day

Leander I know E X A C T L Y what you mean, I am just past the "mid-century" mark and I still remember thinking even the 40's was somehow ancient!

Have a great week and keep up the good attitude!

when my Father turned 70, I asked him how it felt. He replied "Now I know what it's like to be middle aged"!

Hey Russell,

I guess I started too young.  When I turned 50 I told my sons that I had finally reached middle age.  I thought they were going to die laughing!  :)

Posted by Not Yet Licensed over 2 years ago

Not Yet Licensed That is really funny and now you can wait a few (or many as the case may be) more years when your reach 70 you can use the lin again! Age really is a lot about attitude as it is years!

Age really is a lot about attitude as it is years!

Very true!  I've known people in their 70s and 80s and even 90s who were still young at heart.  On the other hand, I've also known people in their 20s who already seemed old.

Russell I would not worry about the age thing. But the company here is a little more suspect! FUNNY!

Posted by Rick over 2 years ago

Anne & ???  Thanks for commenting and yes I probably would not hang out with ALL of the folks on the list but the fact is that we are all over 50 and it's not really so bad!

Well, I'll be 51 in a couple of weeks and my husband tells me we're a good fit because I'm immature and he's younger hahahah.
