Do you believe in Fairy Tales? For those who INSIST on talking politics...

I think my grandmother was right when she told me that we should never discuss religion or politics in "polite company". With that said, I have noticed a larger number of posts with a political bent lately so when I came across this little illustration I thought "What the heck; when it comes to politics and the ongoing political season, every side seems to want to promise us something for everyone".

I thought this little illustration said it perfectly:

Fairy Tales

I agree with you regarding religion and politics, they shouldn't be in business and in social settings. Active rain I feel is outside of that guideline. People share information and you can agree or disagree it a choice.

Good luck and success

Russell, I loved your post!  I agree that there are other forums for both religion and politics than this one!

Russell,

I agree whole heartedly.  Comments, Questions and Editorial rants relating to real estate are what Activerain are all about.  Leave the personal beliefs on other blogs.

What an appropriate illustration.  I avoid conversation about politics, in both polite and not so polite company.   Sometimes they all seem the same to me.

This is so true.... they know how to promise the world and how not to deliver.. Enough said.

All of the campaigning and posturing provides for a little amusement so as far as I see it, I think it is all good.  I love the recent campaign ad McCain has about Obama being a celebrity.

I dont discuss a lot of politics with people - is a never-ending conversation.

Besides, we dont really have a party that exists.  We would like to end the war AND lower taxes.  Should myself or my wife run for office as well with that slogan ?  It also certainly seems like change to us too !

I appreciate your comments and agree with all. I am just glad i can comment on all the political items in a humorous way that does not stir up any heted debate.

It does not really take much to get people started when it comes to politics!

I'm just sayin'...

Chris  & Stephanie

You should run, actually I thought I would run for office one day and my slogan would be

"I AM NOT A LAWYER"

Posted by Russell Lewis, Broker,CLHMS,GRI (AvenueOne Properties, Austin Texas Real Estate) over 2 years ago

Ho, ho, ho

I so agree!  I lived in a few countries (& continents), and what I've learned is: politics is the same everywhere.

Do we all think that when a promise is made by a politician, they ALWAYS intent to follow through?

I want to believe so, but life tought me otherwise.

I'm with you and I have avoided commenting on political posts, just because it is just asking for a fire fight in most cases. It is a great way to lose friends and clients by writing about politics.

Very cute cartoon!  And you're right about the political-themed blogs on ActiveRain.  I'm a believer that one of those is just as likely to turn OFF a potential client as it is to pick one up.

Thank you for your comments, I am probably one of the last people that you would consider a "Miss manners" type (though I clean up pretty well) and basically consider it a common sense issue. OK having said that I still go and post this little item...I just thought it was funny and I am glad you enjoyed it too!

Hahahahaha!  So true.  Maybe we should keep a list of these promises.  No.  On second thought, we probably better not.  Even a list might cause trouble.  :)
