The Good Life in Austin Texas

Architecture at the Umlauf Series - Thursday, April 1st, (No Fooling) 7:00PM

Umlauf Sculpture GardenThe second program of the Fourth Season of the Architecture at the Umlauf Series takes place Thursday, April 1st (No Fooling)

Doors open at  at 7:00 pm.

The event marks the second program of the fourth of this incredibly popular program featuring local Austin Architects in a beautifully intimate setting. As a result of the strong ties between AvenueOne and the Art and Architectural communities, the monthly series was founded and produced by two of my associates at AvenueOne Properties; Scott Harvey and Carla Umlauf (granddaughter of the esteemed sculptor). In cooperation with the Umlauf Sculpture Garden the lecture series is sponsored by our firm, AvenueOne Properties and hosted by The Umlauf Torchbearers.

The series is a creative venue allowing local architects to share with the public and professionals their work and its meaning within Austin's contextual landscape. The lectures take place at the beautiful Umlauf Sculpture Garden Pavilion and this month's feature speaker is Travis Young AIA. There is a minimal charge of $5.00 for the event but is free to museum members. Come out and enjoy an excellent talk in this beautiful venue and enjoy a selection of light snacks and wine during the program.

You might want to show up early because the weather is perfect for a stroll in the garden prior to the start of the talk! The pictures below were taken two weeks ago before the recent rains and the garden is bursting with color and new growth. The peaceful sanctuary provides a pleasant escape in the middle of our bustling city. The Umlauf Sculpture garden is another reason we are truly living  the Good Life in Austin Texas!

Hi Russell,

I love things like this and it so enriches the culture of our communities. The photos you included were just terrific and the garden sounds wonderful. I have been so impressed with what Austin has done along the river and the great new enrichment it has focused on over the last couple decades. Austin is a remarkable city.  The real estate market isn't bad either. A great place to live, work and play.

Toula This is actually the fourth year we have sponsored this event but I just started blogging a year and a half ago! I always try and get this out and it's been very popular with friends, family and my SOI.

Jane There are literally dozens of different sculptures throughout the garden!

Hi Lisa Actually I  like the same thing and though maybe not exactly the same experience it's pretty cool to see the world from out monitors!

Dorie Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks for the tips on using Kompozer. I am still fiddling with it but making progress
